Canon’s a common enough name where digital cameras are concerned, and the company has certainly rolled out fantastic DSLRs all the way to compact point-and-shoot models which have proved to be winners in their respective departments. Today, we will not take a look at Canon’s DSLR range, but rather, will be checking out a trio of new PowerShot digital cameras that are not only capable of beautiful stills, but shooting high-definition video to boot. The three models would be the PowerShot SX150 IS, the PowerShot ELPH 510 HS (which incidentally canon claims is the world’s thinnest digital camera with 12x optical zoom and a 28mm wide-angle lens) and the PowerShot ELPH 310 HS. All three have been specially constructed to be able to handle a vast array of shooting situations with ease and accuracy, where individual cameras will come equipped with features ranging from impressive zoom to a new Intelligent Image Stabilization (IS) system, Smart AUTO with 32 shooting scenes, High-Speed Burst mode and HD video capture. The ELPH 510 HS and ELPH 310 HS digital cameras are also outstanding in their own accord since they will feature Canon’s famous HS SYSTEM that are capable of handling shooting especially in low light conditions. With an impressive zoom function with optical image stabilization available across the board, you should not find it to be a problem to shoot highly detailed shots from a variety of distances. The PowerShot SX150 IS will come with a 12x wide-angle optical zoom and 28mm lens, while the PowerShot ELPH 510 HS boasts of being the thinnest camera to date in its class, sporting a 12x optical zoom and 28mm wide-angle lens, with the PowerShot ELPH 310 HS bearing an 8x optical zoom with 28mm wide-angle lens. A totally new Intelligent IS system has also been introduced in these PowerShot models, heling deliver crisp, undistorted images in various shooting conditions. With Intelligent IS, it will automatically pick from half a dozen modes (Normal, Macro, Panning Dynamic, Powered and Tripod) to optimize image stabilization. The ELPH 310 HS and ELPH 510 HS will retail for $260 and $350, respectively, when they ship early this October, while folks who are looking out for the PowerShot SX150 will have to wait until the beginning of September.
